Supporting the CFO, the Director of Tax plays a key role in managing the group's activities. This will include:
*The identification of the most effective corporate and tax structure for each business activity, overall tax planning and reporting for the Company and providing expert advice on all major transactions, joint ventures, contracts and other major elements being carried out by the organisation with a view to optimising the tax impact of such developments.
*Accountable for contributing to the design of the corporate structure, addressing UK and other tax jurisdictional aspects, the management of communications with tax administrations and external tax advisers around the world (including, the Netherlands, Italy, Canada, US, Indonesia and India) and the necessary procedures so as to ensure a tax efficient start-up of operations for the company.
*Contribute to all planning and financial systems so as to ensure all tax aspects both future and current are adequately addressed in both the planning and operation of systems. This includes the provision of advice to other functions on appropriate amendments of systems and processes to ensure the regular capture of information for tax purposes.
*Responsibility for review of the quarterly current and deferred tax accounting under IFRS prepared by the tax manager.
*Responsibility for ensuring the organisation is continually tax compliant covering all corporate, VAT, social security, income and other taxes; the Director of Tax will communicate with a number of staff around the business in order to achieve this objective.
*Contribute to the development of staff compensation issues and policies using his/her knowledge of tax efficient compensation packages and personal taxation including preparation and submission of PSA calculation and P11D review. The Director of Tax will be accountable for liaising with other parts of the business in relation to annual returns for share option schemes, pension schemes and employer funded retirement benefits schemes.
*Review and agreement of all tax computations, returns, etc. on behalf of the organisation.
*Contribute to all financial planning tasks such as long range financial planning and annual budget cycles with a view to ensure that all tax impacts are properly addressed and minimised.
*Maintaining up to date adequate transfer pricing documentation.
*Accountable for the management of the Tax Manager.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
*Tax qualification with approximately 7 years PQE
*University degree with 2.1
*Strong technical skills
*Able to express complex taxation matters in a concise and coherent manner.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
*Ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA
*Experience in telecoms, technology or similar organisation
Sphere Of Influence of the Position:
The Director of Tax must have the necessary skills and experience to add value to the realisation of the group's tax strategy in a pro-active manner.
