This established regional firm now seeks a VAT assistant to join their growing team at Hexham. The role will assist the Head of VAT in their general working duties, including letter writing, scheduling information and researching VAT topics. The role will involve preparing engagement letters, assisting in the management of costs, producing management information when requested and dealing with general administrative duties as required. Experience of dealing with VAT is not essential but would be advantageous. The successful candidate should have experience of working in an office environment and be computer literate. A good level of education is required with GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent). A VAT training programme will be tailored to the needs of the successful candidate leading to formal qualifications
Please note that only those applicants who have a legal right to work in the UK and have an appropriate amount of practical relevant UK tax experience will be considered for this role. Additionally candidates who are already registered with us will be automatically considered for this role.

Ian is very well connected in the local market place and is able to offer candidates pro active career advice and insight. Given his background as an ACA having worked in tax he is also well placed to understand fully the needs of both clients and candidates alike and he offers a very professional and attentive service.
Joanna Longman is a VAT specialist and was previously Regional Head of VAT at one of the Big 4 firms before becoming VAT Director of a large local practice in the North West. She has been an active member of various chapters of the VAT Practitioners Group.
